Christmas has one last breath at the Historical Promont House in Milford, Ohio!! The Christmas display runs through January 11th. After a failed attempt two years ago to visit this lovely Victorian home I was able to view it today in full splendor.
The Promont House is a beautiful 3-story Victorian Italianate mansion built in 1865-67 by William McGrue. Originally set on more than 50 acres, today the grounds occupy 5 acres of lovely mature trees and gardens. Promont House Museum is distinguished by its attached tower rising five stories from the basement to the tower's observation room. Being afraid of heights I was ushered by one of the friendly staff. The view from the top is magnificent. The home was once occupied by the 43rd Governor John M. Pattison (1879-1906]. I was told that the governor would go up to the tower to prepare his speeches!!
The Greater Milford Historical Society has done a wonderful job of restoring this magnificent property.
If you are ever in the area it is well worth a peek!!!!
